FAQ
1 / What are your fees?
My standard rate is $175 per 60-minute session. I also offer 75-minute sessions at $205 and 90-minute sessions at $235 for those who would benefit from longer sessions.

*A limited number of sliding scale spots are available. Please inquire if cost is a barrier to us working together.
Group prices are also based on a sliding scale in an effort to make mental health care accessible, please see "Groups" page for more info.
2 / What is your availability?
My practice is open Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday between the hours of 11:00AM-8:00PM in nature, office, or telehealth.
Please ask about current open session availability.
3 / Do you take insurance?
I am not directly paneled with any insurance companies. However, I am considered an out-of-network (OON) provider and can offer a monthly superbill for services which you may present to your insurance provider for possible partial reimbursement. Please contact your insurance company to see what deductible or percentage of reimbursement is allowed for an out-of-network LMHCA in Washington state.

Questions to ask your insurance:
a. Do I have out-of-network benefits for my policy?
b. Do I have a mental or behavioral health policy that covers out-of-network benefits for a LMHCA?
c. How do I use my out-of-network benefits?
d. Do I need a prior authorization before I begin seeing my provider?
e. Do I have an out-of-network deductible? If so, what is it and how do I meet the deductible?

What’s a superbill? What do I do with it?
A superbill is an invoice – a receipt for services rendered and paid for in full – that your therapist provides you (upon request) when they are not in network with your insurance panel. This invoice/receipt has information such as dates of service, a diagnosis code, and other personal information such as your date of birth and address. Once you have a superbill and have clarified your insurance coverage, you can submit this to your insurance for reimbursement. The time frame and percentage of reimbursement depends on several things, including your policy and coverage.
4 / Is there a benefit to not using insurance?
Insurance companies require therapists to make a mental health diagnosis that becomes a permanent part of your medical record, and may be shared with other entities. Therapists must prove “medical necessity,” which means that you have a mental health diagnosis severe enough to be impacting your daily functioning.
Should you choose not to use insurance, you do not need to receive a formal diagnosis, unless you believe it would be helpful for pursuing a particular treatment, medication, or accommodation.
5 / How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions will vary from client to client. To accommodate a variety of needs, I offer single-session therapy, short-term therapy, and long-term therapy. Single sessions can be great to tackle a particular issue or get a better sense of what therapy is like. Short-term options may last between 10-20 sessions, 1-2 times a week or every other week, to support you through a challenging time or focus on a specific outcome. Long-term may last anywhere from months to years and is best for those needing reliable, ongoing support to address chronic concerns or deeply conditioned trauma responses. Ultimately, the duration of our work together is up to you and open to change as you see fit.
6 / What is nature therapy?
Nature therapy sessions take place outdoors in a Seattle-area park. We may walk and talk or find a serene place to sit and enjoy the added healing benefits that nature provides. Many studies have demonstrated numerous mental health benefits to spending time outdoors. We may discuss and practice natural healing techniques such as standing barefoot on the ground, exchanging energy and gratitude with the Earth, finding a sense of belonging and spirituality, and practicing mindfulness skills.

7 / What is end-of-life support?
For clients that are nearing the end of their life, regardless of age, I offer support ranging from organizing logistics such as advanced directives and disposition options, to emotional processing around anxiety and grief, to spiritual contemplation and existential wondering. We may create a plan for the remaining time to help you prioritize what matters most. I also offer mindfulness exercises to prepare for attachment release, supporting a more gentle surrender when the time comes. This is a sacred time of transition and I vow to honor your beliefs and choices.
8 / How can I prepare for our first session?
It is important that you complete the necessary paperwork including the intake form, disclosure & consent form, privacy policy, and any additional consent forms as requested. We will also get you set up with Ivy Pay, a HIPAA compliant payment system. Make sure you have a private and secure space to connect and any water, fidgets, or comfort items you may need. Take some time to consider your mental health journey thus far and how things are showing up for you in the present. Do you have a vision of what you hope to accomplish with our time together? If not, we can allow it to unfold naturally. Try to give yourself some time before and after our session to get grounded, journal or reflect, and practice some self care - whatever that means to you!
